Friimarket Launches Trust-Based Trade Infrastructure to Make China Sourcing and Online Trade Safer for Nigerian SMEs

FriiPro Ltd has launched Friimarket, a trust-based trade infrastructure platform designed to make online and cross-border trade safer for Nigerian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those sourcing goods from China.

The platform, unveiled in Benin City on February 28, 2026, aims to address longstanding concerns around fraud, unreliable logistics, and payment risks that have limited the growth of many Nigerian entrepreneurs engaged in international trade.

According to FriiPro’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Godwin Eborka, the initiative was conceived as foundational infrastructure rather than a conventional online marketplace.

“Nigeria does not lack entrepreneurs or capital. What we lack is trust in trade,” Eborka said. “Friimarket was created to rebuild that trust by putting inspection before payment, agents on the ground, and controlled settlement at the center of every transaction.”

The platform operates through four integrated components: the Friimarket technology platform, FriiAgents, a network of verified agents across Nigeria and China, FriiPay, a controlled payment collection and settlement system, and FriiDelivery, which manages local distribution and international shipping coordination.

Through this structure, Nigerian businesses are able to request product sourcing from China, verify goods through inspection before payment release, store inventory in vetted warehouses, distribute products locally, and receive payments securely. The company says this layered model is intended to reduce the risks that have historically affected online and cross-border commerce.

Beyond sourcing, Friimarket also provides support for product distribution, warehousing, logistics, inspection services, and seller storefronts. The platform is particularly positioned to serve SMEs and emerging entrepreneurs who may have capital but limited experience navigating international trade systems.

Industry observers note that Friimarket’s agent-led execution model reflects a hybrid approach that combines digital infrastructure with human oversight, a structure considered well-suited to Nigeria’s commercial environment, where trust gaps remain a significant barrier.

Friimarket commenced nationwide operations on February 28, 2026, alongside an ongoing recruitment drive for FriiAgents across major commercial hubs and the establishment of partnerships with suppliers and logistics providers in China.

The launch comes at a time when Nigeria’s digital economy is expanding rapidly, with increasing attention on platforms that can provide greater transparency, accountability, and security for small businesses engaged in both local and international trade.

FriiPro Ltd, the company behind the platform, describes itself as a technology and trade infrastructure firm focused on rebuilding trust in commerce through integrated sourcing, inspection, logistics, warehousing, and payment systems. Its flagship product, Friimarket, is designed to serve Nigerian businesses operating domestically and across borders, with particular emphasis on China–Nigeria trade corridors.
